Here you can spend your day laying in the sun on the white sand and swimming in the calm, sapphire blue water. The beach is fairly uncrowded and you can find great spots for snorkeling and canoing. In addition to the usual beach activities, there are also plenty of daily trips and other activities. More active couples may also enjoy hiking or horseback riding. Two other must-sees in Kona are the Kailua Pier and Ali’I Drive. Kailua Pier is in the city center and allows you to survey the surrounding area and witness some of the most beautiful sunsets you’ll ever behold. Ali’I Drive is the “main drag” of the city and runs along the oceanfront. Here is where you’ll find most of the restaurants, hotels, and shops of Kona. So if you’re looking for a romantic beach location—either to get away from your kids or everybody else’s kids—try Mission Beach or the Kona Coast.
