Spain Award Winning Beaches
iBiza's Award Winning Beaches
by iBiza Joe
Spain has come top of the tables for clean and safe beaches
in 2008, according to the Foundation for Environmental
Education, who hand out the Blue Flags. The Spanish got 499
Blue Flags and a further 77 for their Marinas.
The Balearics in particular were granted 61 with iBiza
picking up 18. Not bad for an island 45 km long and 25 km
wide.
They awarded over 3000 flag to thirty six countries across
the world including South Africa, New Zealand and the
Caribbean. I'd hate to be a judge on that panel. The flag is
a symbol of quality.
Environmental matters are at the heart of the judging
criteria, which also takes into account education and water
quality.
In iBiza the beaches with blue flags are - Cala Tarida, Cala
Conta, Cala Bassa, Cala DHort, Cala Migjorn Cala Vadella,
Cala Llenya, es Canar, Cala Llonga, Santa Eulalia beach and
es Figueral. San Miguel, Cala San Vicent, Portinax and
Benirras, Cala Gracio, es Calo des Moro and es Pouet.
iBiza Joe is not just an nutter on
(http://www.iBizatoday.net) iBiza 's beaches. He's a total
(http://www.iBizatoday.net) iBiza nutter and one of the
mental characters on the island. Check out his website for
video news and reviews on The White Island.
